Paul Norman Belue
Paul Norman Belue, Chief Petty Officer, USN (Ret.), 79, of Roanoke, died Sunday October 4, 2015.
Paul was born March 3, 1936 in Spartanburg, SC, one of 15 children of the late Sidney L. and Ora L. Belue of Spartanburg, SC.
He was retired from the US Navy and the Virginia Employment Commission. He was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church but was currently attending Cave Spring United Methodist Church. Mr. Belue was a member of Vinton Masonic Lodge #204, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Scottish Rite Research Society. He was Past Associate Guardian of Bethel #7, International Order of Job's Daughters. Paul was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch #041 and the American Legion Post #80. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School Class of 1955 and Virginia Western Community College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Priscilla A. Cooksey Belue; son, Paul 'Norman' Belue, Jr.; 4 brothers, Ralph L., Harold J., Sidney 'Frank', and Carl D. Belue; sisters, Margaret R. Belue and Marguerite R. Carey.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Lynn and Benjamin Boone, Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Amanda H. Belue, Roanoke; 3 very special granddaughters, Lindsay Marie Belue, Rowan Elizabeth Boone and Bronwyn Iris Boone, Roanoke; 2 brothers, John H. Belue and Bobby R. Belue, Spartanburg, SC, sisters, Barbara A. Belue, Drayton, SC, Magilee Brannon, Pomaria, SC, Peggy L. Fowler and Betty R. Smith, Spartanburg, SC, Doris J. Peterson, Cowpens, SC, Dorothy J. Scruggs, Chesnee, SC.
Funeral services, with Masonic Rites by Vinton Lodge #204, will be held 12 noon Friday October 9, 2015 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Rev. Denise P. Bates officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The family wishes to thank Cave Spring United Methodist Church, Cave Spring Rescue Squad, and the E.R. Department of Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of your choosing for the flood relief in Paul's home state of South Carolina.
