This is my great grandmother. She and Thomas Jefferson Johnson the II were never married. They were first cousins who had a child together. This is recorded on here for genealogical purposes.

My grandfather was James Franklin Adcox, the first born to her. However, James was NOT the biological child of Jesse Adcox. The son was originally named Thomas as the 1900 census documentation states. Later his name was changed to James.

We had been told from other family that my grandfather was adopted by Jesse. Jesse married my great grandmother when she was 6 months pregnant with my grandfather on January 16, 1900. My grandfather was born April 1, 1900. Jesse raised my grandpa as his own, and together he and Liza Jane had many more children together.

My grandfather's biological father was actually his mother's first cousin, Thomas Jefferson Johnson the II , according to DNA research. They never married. This means that Thomas Jefferson Johnson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Greenwalt were biological grand parents to both Elizabeth and Thomas.

All census information will show Jesse Adcox as James' father, but biologically, that is not correct. In fact, if you look at the 1900 census, it will show my grandfather's original name was Thomas when Elizabeth and Jesse were married. Named after
Thomas Jr. ( Can be viewed on James Franklin Adcox's memorial)
