Jesse married my great grandmother Elizabeth "Liza Jane" Johnson on Jan 16, 1900 according to documented information. She was already 6 months pregnant. My grandfather was born April 14, 1900.
According to DNA research, it is believed that his biological father was his mother's first cousin, Thomas Jefferson Johnson Jr. ( Find a grave # 69913751) . THEY NEVER MARRIED. This means that James' mother, Elizabeth "Liza Jane" Johnson and Thomas Jefferson Johnson Jr. had the same grandparents, Thomas Jefferson Johnson Sr ( Find a grave # 56837998) and Mary Elizabeth Greenwalt.
In fact, in the 1900 census, my grandfather's name was originally Thomas instead of James. (see attached photo from Ancestry.com when my grandfather was only one month old)
His mother died in 1919 when Jim was 19. He joined the military and his army service #R475725 shows he was in the 17th ordinance Co.
He married my grandmother, Grace Lee Springs on July 09, 1922 in Sumner, Chariton County, Missouri.
