Gerald E. Freund, 77, of 1506 Minnesota Ave., North Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at his home. He was born a son of the late Martin and Martha Criter Freund on May 29, 1926, in Brothertown. On Oct. 28, 1948, he married Harrietta C. Bernard. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Wells Manufacturing Corp. until his retirement, and he was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by five children, Roger (Jackie) Freund of Fond du Lac, John (Patricia) Freund of North Fond du Lac, Barbara (Donald) Hayes of Greenville, James Freund of Rosendale and Catherine Freund of Fond du Lac; 10 grand- children, Jennifer (Dan) Moritz, Jodi (Jason) Oosterhouse, Sarah (Carl) Bubolz, Matt and Ashley Freund, Nicole, Christine and Melissa Hayes and Jamie and Ben Freund; two sisters, Sister Rita Freund of Milwaukee and Doris (Ralph) Neuber of Chilton; a sister-in-law, Marge Freund of Chilton; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harrietta Freund, on Sept. 17, 2001; a sister, Marge (Eugene) Roberts; and a brother, Reno Freund. Services: A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Mach Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. John Radetski officiating. Visitation: The family will greet friends and relatives from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Mach Funeral Chapel. Mach Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
