Betty Viola Thompson Duff, 77, Huntsville, Tennessee, formerly of Somerset, died Wednesday, October 3, 2001, in Huntsville.

She was born August 24, 1924, in Jugornot, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Steve and Desdia Hair Thompson. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Orville (and Bonnie) Thompson, Burnside; a daughter Donna (and Gayle) Pittman, Elgin, Tennessee; three brothers, Harmon (and Rosie) Thompson, Somerset, Roy Donald (and June) Thompson, Ferguson, and Curtis Wayne (and Myrtle) Thompson, Crossville, Tennessee; five sisters, Bonnie Reed, Newport, Kentucky, Beulah Casada, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Shirley Bray, Jugornot, Kentucky, Violet Haynes, Ferguson, and JoAnne Thompson, Somerset; a brother-in-law, Clyde Lowery, Tateville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charlie Adams, Noel Thompson, and Junior Thompson; five sisters, Lula Adams, Verlie Thompson, Madeline Thompson, Zula Thompson, and Letha Lowery; and a half-brother, Estes Thompson.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Somerset Undertaking with Geneva Summers officiating.

Burial will be in Haynes Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, October 5, at the funeral home.
