He was born September 14, 1924 in Sheboygan Falls, son of the late William and Hilda (Kamke) Broehm. Elroy was a graduate of Hilbert High School. On October 6, 1945 he married the former Ruby Mertens at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on June 19, 1993. On August 1, 1998 he married Alice (Meiselwitz) Feld at St. Peters UCC, Kiel. Elroy worked for many years at Kohler Co and later worked at MB Company until his retirement. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel. In his free time he enjoyed going fishing, playing cards and spending time with his dog, Penny.
Survivors include his wife Alice of New Holstein. a son, Elroy Jr. Butch (Barbara) Broehm of Columbia SC; a daughter, Sandra Lynn (Ted) Howerton of Crandon, step daughter, Judith Steinbeck, Sheboygan, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. 7 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and 4 step great great grandchildren. Elroy is further survived by 3 brothers, William (Blanche) Broehm, Appleton, Donald Broehm, Wautoma, Harlan Broehm, Brillion; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arthur (Shirley) Mertens, Ocala FL., Elsie Nadler, New Holstein, Elroy Meiselwitz, New Holstein, Shirley (Al) Burchinti, Wheaton IL, Carol Meiselwitz, Kiel. Elroy was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dianne Broehm and a step-son, Terry Feld.
Funeral services for Elroy will be at 5:00pm on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Rd, Kiel with the Rev. Jeremy Cares officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Wednesday from 3:00pm until the time of services. Entombment at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
