Sidney Delmer Hinton, 77 of Sulphur, LA died January 28, 2000. Mr. Hinton was born Dec. 12, 1922 in Quitman, LA. He served on the USS Melville during WWII. He attended LA Tech and McNeese State University. Mr. Hinton retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. with 35 years of service. He was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge F&AM in Sulphur and the VFW. He spent many years working with the Sulphur Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Hinton; six children, Beverly Petross of CA, Debbie Elkins of FL, Dean Hinton, Francis Bruce, Rodney Hinton and Alesia Compton of Sulphur. 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Levon and Archie Hinton of Quitman and 3 sisters, Louise Bridges and Lona Johnson of Quitman and Earnestine Womack of West Monroe. Memorial services were held in Sulphur and graveside service and burial was held at Antioch Presbyterian Cemetery in Quitman, LA.
