SULPHUR-Funeral services for Nellie "Nell" Vee Bates Hinton, 92 of Sulphur will be held 10am Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 4-9pm Monday and resume Tuesday 9am until time of service. The Reverend Erich Mansell of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Quitman, LA.
Mrs. Hinton passed Saturday, October 17, 2015 Harbor Hospice Hospital in Lake Charles. A native of Quitman, LA, she has lived in Sulphur for the past 65 years. She was a graduate of LA Tech and taught school for many years including substitute teaching for Calcasieu Parish for a total of approximately 62 years. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher for as many years. She used her creative talents to decorate for wedding receptions and special events for friends and family. In her past years, she had sitters whom we would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation; we love you. To Harbor Hospice Hospital, Thank you for your special care of our mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Sidney Delmar Hinton; parents, Edwin and Martha Jean Maul; and grandson, Shannon Bruce.
Survivors include six children, Beverly Petross and husband Jerry of Sulphur, Francis Crawford and husband Donald of Orange, TX, Dean Hinton and Judy of Sulphur, Rodney Hinton of Quitman, Debbie Elkins of Tampa, FL, and Alesia Compton and husband, Arvin of Sulphur; one brother, Jr. Bates of Jonesboro; fifteen grandchildren, Christopher Petross, Pamela Petross Williams and husband, Simon, Sean Bruce and our beloved and missed Shannon Bruce, Sara Rannekleiv and husband, Brandon, Crystal Pippin and husband Dennis, Elizabeth Ladner and husband Corbin, Rebecca Stains and husband, Bret, Tiffany and Clayton Hinton, Heather Guillory and husband Jimmy, Beth and Nathan Elkins and Nicholas and Cory Compton; 22 great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jessica Williams, Avery and Braeden Bruce, Erika, Trey, Paige, and Levi Rannekleiv, Rubin and Bethany Pippin, Talon, Weston and Dakota Ladner, Reid Stains, Kayla, Sidney, Luke, Faith, Grace, Shiloh, Lillian and Jane Guillory and Kameron Bruce.
