Mrs. Anna Cecilia Olson was born January 5, 1888 of Charles G. and Anna M. Sandberg Peterson, early settlers in Webster County, Nebraska, where she grew up on a farm with six sisters and two brothers. Early years were also spent helping her grandparents,, immigrants from Sweden, who had settled in Western Kansas.

After Normal School at Kearney she taught for nine years in schools in Western Kansas, and in Webster and Lincoln County, Nebraska.

On April 21, 1915 she was united in marriage to Henry Edward Olson at the Baptist Church in North Platte, Nebr. They lived where Henry had homesteaded and shared many hardships and joys together with neighbors in the Glen Echo community in the sandhills. They were charter members of the Baptist Church. While in that community three sons and two daughters were born.

In March 1928 the family moved to the Chase community west of Imperial, Nebr. where a son and two daughters were born. There she with her family transferred their membership to the newly formed United Brethren in Christ church where they were charter members.

The family circle was broken by the death of her husband, October 15, 1957. Mrs. Olson then moved to Imperial where she lived the remainder of her life. The last four years she was cared for at the Imperial Manor.

Anna Olson completed her last mile in her journey of this life on earth on May 15, 1973, when she was called to her heavenly home. She departed this life at the age of 85 years. All the children survive and include four sons: Howard and his wife Madge of Carterville, Mo., Charles and wife Peggy of Imperial; John and wife Lilah of Joplin, Mo., and Emil and wife Lorene of Champion. The four daughters are Miss Vivian Olson of Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa; Mary Harbert and husband Tyrus of Grand Junction, Colo., Ann Steinmeyer and her husband Richard of Spearfish, So. Dakota, and Patricia Marlatt and husband Dr. William of Fort Collins, Colo. There are twenty-nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Residents of Imperial include three sisters: Mary, Mrs. Ralph Miller; Emma, wife of Reid Dickerson, Miss Mathilda Peterson; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Peterson.

Funeral services were held May 18 at the United Methodist Church in Imperial with Pastor Melvin Koelling officiating. Interment was at Chase Cemetery at Imperial.
