OBITUARY:
Former Local Resident Dies

Word has been received here of the death in Portland this morning of Harry Walter Baum, formerly of La Grande.

Born Apr. 12 in Decatur, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elsyness S. Baum, his parents moved west when he was a small boy.

He was married Sept. 22. 1911, to Rosella Wilson who survives him and who has many relatives in this area. Their two children, Mrs. Evelyn Harris and Leslie Baum survive, living in Washington state and California, respectively.

Other survivors include three brothers; Ray C. Baum, Union, Earl Baum, Hazelton, Ida and Orvall Baum, Baker; and four sisters; Mrs. Nona Combs, La Grande. Mrs. Elsie Uric, Shoshone, Ida., Mrs. Myrtle Karren, Greenville, Calif., and Mrs. Fern Whallon, Portland.

Mr. Baum was preceded in death by a Carl Baum of La Grande and a sister, Mrs. Gladys Amos, also of La Grande:

Nieces and nephews surviving in this area include Judy Hollman, Laura Mac Marshall. Oreta Baxter, Jean Hutchinson, Elma Fullmer, Darlena Hargett. Dorcihy Hixson, Phyllis Wooldridge and Chet and Dave Baum.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Thursday afternoon in Portland.
