Betty Beard July 24, 1918 to April 07, 2015:
Betty DesCamp Beard was born in 1918 in Seattle and died April 7, 2015, after a slow decline in strength. She maintained her delight in the accomplishments of others, in gardens and colors and in the beauty of friendship and family until the last. Her Christian faith was a foundation of her approach to life, as were her sense of humor and readiness to enjoy what the moment offered. Betty married John "Jack" G. Beard Jr. and came with him and their first son, John III, to Portland in 1950. Here they raised their sons, John and James, in All Saints Parish. As empty nesters, they moved to Riverdale and joined St. Michael the Archangel Parish, where she continued for these 47 years. They maintained their old friendships and added many new and dear friends. Jack died in 1994. Betty is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews, numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and generations of friends.
