He was born November 25, 1943 in Benton, Louisiana.
He grew up in Hamshire, Texas and graduated from Hamshire-Fannet High school. He went to work in the oil field for Phillip Oil & Gas and then Zapata Offshore International in 1964 and retired from there after 17 years. He then worked and retired from ARCO International in December 1999 and then started consulting with British Petroleum until he retired again in 2013. He has worked in 32 different countries around the world and lived with his family in several of those countries.
Bob loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed fly tying and training his hunting dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Parks, his daughter Sherri Gresham and husband Terry of Cove, Texas, daughters Debra Pulver of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Donna Kjerulff of Burkeville, Texas, his sister Beverly Brown of Dallas, brother Don Parks and wife Terri of Winnie, Texas and brothers Ricky Parks and William Parks of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons Robert Parks, Jr. and Charles Smith, Jr., his father Burl Parks and Mother Bunah Goff and brothers Edwin and John Parks.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 5~8pm at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 11am in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside services to follow at Mount Sinai Cemetery.
Reverend Billy Parks, his nephew will officiate the services.
