El Cajon, Calif. ­- Delbert "Del" Basgall, 65, former area resident, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, from injuries following a car accident near El Cajon. He was born July 29, 1935, in Loretto to Joe G. and Hilda (Von Feldt) Basgall.

He married Mary Ellen Tetlow on May 18, 1971, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was a graduate of Victoria High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the Fifth Army Band in Europe. He was a resident of El Cajon since 1990, coming from Fort Collins, Colo. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a musician and retired music store manager.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Scott and Aaron, both of Phoenix; a daughter, Heidi Basgall, Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Eddie, Hays, and Marvin, Great Bend; two sisters, Vera Bellendir and Boots Maltby, both of Great Bend.

A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church, Great Bend, with the Revs. William A. Vogel and Warren Stecklein officiating.
