In Memoriam.
CARRIER:-- Elizabeth Carrier, whose maiden name was Miller, was born in Pendleton County, W. Virginia, January 14, 1822, and departed this life at her home in White River Township, Randolph Co., Indiana, March 15, 1895; aged seventy-three years, two months, and one day.
At the age of sixteen, Sister Carrier joined the United Brethern in Christ. On the 24th of June 1841, she married her first husband, Elijah Stonestreet. To this union were born seven children; the father and three of whom, have preceeded her to the spirit world. Mr. Stonestreet departed this life, December 12, 1855. Being left a widow she and her children emigrated to Fayette County, Ohio, where she joined the M.E. Church by letter. After being a widow for about three years she married her second husband, Solomon J. Carrier, February 8, 1858, who with his wife and her children, came to this neighborhood, in which she lived until her death. She and her husband first attached themselves to the M.E. Church at Olive Branch; the class being afterward reorganized at New Dayton, where she remained a member until her death. She leaves a sorrowing husband, four children and a vast number of relatives and friends to mourn her death; but their loss is his eternal gain. In all the relations of life she acted her part nobly.. As a child she was obedient and dutiful; as a sister she was aggreeable, as a wife she was loving and helpful, as a mother she was kind and indulgent, as a neighbor she was sympathizing and charitable; she was ever ready to visit the sick and minister to their wants, as long as her health would permit; she was ever ready to relieve the poor and needy. The writer knew Sister Carrier during many years and he can truly say that a mother has fallen in Israel When Time, the great healer of earthly sorrow, has dispelled the clouds from their mental skys then the bereaved will see that God, in mercy, released her from the physical agonies she suffered for years, and transported her to her home above; there to join the general assembly and church of the first born, that inumerable company who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. As a Christian she was fevvent in spirit, and walked in the ardinances of the Lord, blameless. May all emulate her Christian life!
The narrow way she kept with even steady pace.
And finished well her pious Christian race.
The heavenly prize she always kept in view.
And ran, and fought, and urged her passage through;
Having lived a devoted Christian during fifty-seven years.

Betsy Miller's 1st husband, Elijah Skidmore Stonestreet died from poisoning in Pendleton Co. West Virginia Oct. 26, 1855. She married Solomon J. Carrier in Pendleton Co. West Virginia in 1858. Betsy and Elijah Stonestreet had 3 children die young; Elijah M. Stonestreet died June 22, 1859 in Pendleton Co. West Virginia. According to the death register, Elijah died at Walnut Bottom, cause was accident by horse. He is listed as being 8 years 2 months old. George Washington Stonestreet died Feb. 22, 1855 in Pendleton Co. West Virginia, Death was due to Scarlet Fever age 8 months 13 days. Another infant male died unknown date in Pendleton Co. WV.
