Shirley M. (Croyle) Chestnut, 77, of McGrann, died Monday, July 27, 2015, at home. She was born July 12, 1938, in Kittanning, and was a lifelong resident of the community. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby (Toy) Croyle Sr. She worked in the Armstrong County Health Center snack bar for many years. She was a social member of the C.U. Club in Ford City. She liked to bake and cook and going camping. Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Tucker) Dowling, of Kittanning; son, Jerry (Barb) Chestnut, of McGrann; granddaughters, Kelly Dowling, of Kittanning, and Kristin (Jeff) Ucciardo, of Maryland; grand dog, "Pety"; three great-grandchildren, Karli, Riley and Annabelle; brothers, Charles (Linda) Croyle, of Reynoldsville, Richard (Margriet) Croyle, of Ford City, and Robert (Terri) Ramer, of Manorville; and sisters, Linda Turpin, of North Carolina, Patty (Frank) Lytle, of Kittanning, and Sue (Tom) Rosol, of Garretts Run. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel O. Chestnut, who passed away Jan. 20, 2008; brother, Tom Croyle Jr.; and sisters, Peg Ramer and Ruth Ann Sessoms. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with the Rev. John W. Snyder. Interment will be in Croyle Cemetery.
