Melvin Bowtell Wengreen, age 72 of Lehi, passed away Nov. 22, 2002, at his home of natural causes. He was born March 25, 1930, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Carl Arthur and Elva Rosella Brown Wengreen. He married Beverly Allen Bowers at her parents home in American Fork, Utah, on December 1, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the temple on January 24, 1964. After several years of marriage, they were divorced. He then met and married Diane Adele McGee on Feb. 20, 1993, in Springville, Utah.
Melvin served in the U.S. Army, 52nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. He worked at Geneva Steel for 30 years and was a bee keeper for over 25 years. He loved nature, the outdoors, and especially hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the teamsters union and during periods of unemployment, he worked in construction and drove heavy equipment.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Diane of Lehi; 2 sons, Carl Chris (Toni) Wengreen, Houston, John Allen Wengreen, Orem; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 step daughters, Roberta Pinola, Marysville, Claudia Pinola, Springville; and Lana (Shawn) Limb, Lehi; 3 brothers, Arthur Dean (Norma) Wengreen, Orem; Jesse Brown (Addie) Wengreen, Ogden; Earl Wayne (Carol) Wengreen, Lake Shore; 2 sisters, Eva Jenette Bullock, Las Vegas, Evelyn Faye Harris, Pocatello, ID. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Charles Wengreen; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lehi 1st Ward Chapel, 200 S. 200 Lehi. Family and friends may call Monday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, American Fork City Cemetery.
The family would also like to extend their thank you to Vista Care of Lehi for taking such good care of Melvin, and for the Lehi 1st Ward Relief Society and friends.
