Funeral services for Mrs. A. G. Tillman. who died Saturday evening at her home following a long Illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at the house followed by a 2:30 service at the Church of Christ, with Bruce B. Matthews. minister, in charge. Burial was in the Clarion cemetery. Susan B., twin daughter of William and Mary Carney, was born In Dane county, Wis.. September 24. 1860, and died at the age of 79 years and 5 months.
When she was 8 years of age her family moved with ox team and covered wagon to Butler county. Iowa, where she resided until coming to Clarion. She attended rural schools there and later the Public school in Grundy Center.
On September 20. 1879. she was united in marriage to Augustus George Tillman at Grundy Center. To this union were born seven children. Two sons. William and Oliver. and her husband preceded her in death.
In the fall of 1880 Mr. Tillman came to Wright county and established a home In Lincoln township. Mrs. Tillman with her oldest son came the following spring on the first passenger train through Clarion. Four years after her husband's death in 1917 she moved to Clarion where she has since resided.
Her life was characterized by her devotion to her family and friends and she knew the hardships and struggles of pioneer life, always giving generously of her time and energy whenever she saw the need.
Early In life she became a member of the local Church of Christ and remained active as long as her health permitted. She has also been a member of the Marietta Rebekah lodge for more than 25 years.
She leaves to mourn her loss five children Walter. Burt. Charles and May of Clarion and Ray of Dows: 22 grandchildren and 9 great grand-children, besides one brother. James Carney of Billings, Mont . who is the last survivor of seven children.

Clayton and Paul Clayton of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guelp and children and Mrs. Emma Carney of Moville; Mrs. Ike Jarrott and Fred Jarrott of Ocheyedan; Mrs. Merritt Partlow of Menlo; Mrs. Minnie Tillman of Greenfield and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Yates of Bigelow, Minn.
