Jewell Everett 'J.E.' Hays 1918 - 2003

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Jewell Everett "J.E." Hays, 84, Oklahoma City, Okla., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the Lackey Manor Nursing Home, Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was born Nov. 30, 1918, in Hepler, the son of John and Jocindia Harden Hays.

He worked as a farmer, welder, shipbuilder and businessman.

On Jan. 4, 1941, he married Imogene Mitchell in Cherryvale. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara; a son, Michael; a sister, Norma Gene; a brother, Earnest Wayne; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a child, Kelly, and five brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Baggerley Memorial Chapel, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Walnut Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.

Memorials to the Walnut Cemetery Maintenance Fund may be left with the funeral home.
