Carl Eick was born in Germany and came over with his parents Carl Eick and Fredericka and his two sisters, Louise and Ida They arrived the 7 Oct 1880 in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland. Their birth place was noted as Prussia. They left Europe from the port of Breman aboard the Ship Koeln. His age was given as 14. He and his siblings grew up in Chicago, Cook, Illinois.

He married Louise Luedtke (Luedtka) in the St Matthews Lutheran Church in Chicago on 13 Aug 1894. Their first son, Richard Karl August Eick was born 20 Jan 1895 in Chicago and a short time later they moved to Marsailles, LaSalle, Illinois, USA. Richard died about seven months later on 9 Aug 1895 in Marsailles and is buried in the Summitview Cemetery in Ottawa, LaSalle, Illinois. His father Carl (Charles) and his mother Louise are also buried there. His mother is buried under Louise Kent as she married Abraham Kent 23 Nov 1904. Abraham Kent is buried in the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.
