William Hobson was born in Benburb, Tyrone Northern Ireland, about 1874. He married Alice Murphy, also from Ireland, around 1822. Together they had eight children, five sons and three daughters. It is not known whether they were married in Ireland before emigrating to Canada, or after both had arrived. All children were born in Ontario. Wife Alice never remarried and remained in the same area. She is believed to be buried in Eldorado with her husband and daughter, Jane Hobson Morrison.
