Eileen Mae Shaver, 90, of Pinellas Park, Florida, and formerly of Charleston, West Virginia, went to be with her Lord unexpectedly Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her home. She was born June 9, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter of Harley Edward and Nina Florence (Stonestreet) Shamblin. Eileen was a 1942 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston. She met her husband, Gerald F. Shaver, while they were in high school. He was in the Army Air Corps in World War II, and they were married on December 4, 1944 on his fourth furlough at 4:00 in the afternoon. She worked as a switchboard operator for C&P Telephone Company, and later, in accounting for Kanawha Valley Bank, both in Charleston. Also for a time she worked for the telephone company in Douglas, Arizona while her husband was in the service.

At her church in Charleston, where she had attended since a young girl, she served in many capacities including Sunday School secretary and Vacation Bible School worker. She and her husband, Gerald, moved to Pinellas Park, Florida in 1965. She attended Calvary Chapel in Pinellas Park and was a member of the West Virginia Society, where she was the Sunshine chairperson for a number of years, and the St. Petersburg Senior Citizens. She was a dedicated Christian and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was kind and patient all of her life.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Shaver, and a sister, Sophia Eloise Griffith. Survivors included her husband of 70 years, Gerald F. Shaver; sons, Jerry L. Shaver, and his wife Mary, and David Alan Shaver; grandchildren, Susan Tumey and John Shaver; and great grandchildren, Isabel, Samantha, Hannah, and Sarah.

Visitation was held Sunday, May 24, 2015 from 2:00pm until service time at 3:00pm at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home. She was laid to rest privately at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on May 26 2015.

Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131st Street, N., Seminole, FL 33776 / 727-391-0121.
