William Clapp, b. April 30, 1811, Montgomery, Franklin County, Vermont. d. April 30, 1870, St. Albans, Franklin County, Vermont. He was the son of Reuben Clapp and Hepzibah Gates (buried Montgomery Old Cemetery). He married Emeline Rawson.
"He was the Postmaster of East Berkshire, Vt. in 1843, afterwards Collector of the Customs of Vermont and was Representative and Senator in the Vermont Legislature."
