Henry Truman Babcock was son of Elial Babcock and Lydia C. Dake.
His parents left Rushford, Alleganey Co., NY between 1845-1847 for Janesville, Rock Co., WI. He with his other two brothers Zachery Taylor Babcock and Webster C. Babcock enlisted from Rock Co., WI with Union Army. He was a Priviate Co. E, and Co.C, 3rd Wisconsin Cav. Served 5 Jan. 1864 to Sep. 8th 1865.After mustering out of service he married Tilla Viola (Pope) Billings d/o Cyrus Waterman Pope and Nancy Jane Brown 4 March 1866 Janesville, WI., by his father Elial Babcock, Justice of Peace. Marriage certificate recorded under name Truman H. Babcock in Rock Co., WI.
After, 1866 Elial Babcock and Henry Babcock families moved to Denver Twp., Newaygo Co., MI., where Lydia Dake Babcock's father Benjamin Dake and siblings living.
Henry Truman Babcock worked as farm laborer and laborer in saw mill. In 1887 his hand was severed in saw mill accident.

Old Civil War Veteran Passed Away, H.T. Babcock Served in the Wisconsin Cavalry During the War. He passed away at home of son Cyrus E. Babcock of White Cloud, MI. Prior he lived with his wife Tilla V. Babcock in the Old Soldiers Home in Grand Rapids, MI.(Michigan Veterans Home) Many misspellings in obituary.
