Mr. Jordan was born to the union of Thomas Alexander Jordan and Sarah Mariah Lowery, who married in Bibb Co., AL on September 26, 1840.

He married Jerusha A. Fox in Winn Parish about 1884. From this marriage, he was survived by two sons, Joel Clarence Jordan and Otto Alexander Jordan; and one daughter, Nena Minerva Jewell.

He married Susan Caroline "Carrie" Davis in Winn Parish on January 9, 1901. From this marriage, he was survived by one son, James Horace Jordan; and two daughters, Cecile Mariah Wallace and Sara Jackson Harville. He was also survived by one brother, William M. "Billy" Jordan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
