Age 89, a Harborcreek Twp. resident since 1948, daughter of the late Reid S. Bemis and Jennie Carr Bannister Bemis. Sarah and her late husband, Donald E. McGarvey, had owned and operated their own grape farm for many years in Harborcreek Twp. They were married for 65 years and he died on May 3, 2004. She was a member of the South Harborcreek United Methodist Church, enjoyed vegetable gardening and flowers, and especially loved her grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Bannister in 1970, Carl Bemis in 1979, and Clarence Bemis in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth D. McGarvey (Margaret), of Erie; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
