He was born in Venango Township on Feb 18, 1891, son of the late Elmer and Sadie Thornton Bemis.
He retired in 1956 from Applied Plastics Co. following six years of service. He had been a dairy frarmer on Knoyle road in Wattsburg most of his life.
He was a member of the East Greene United Presbyterian Church, the Harborcreek Merry Mixers, and the Phillipsville Grange.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs Donald (Sarah) McGarvey, two sons Carl (F.A.G. #14346597) & Jeannette (Pierce)(F.A.G. #22545543) Bemis and Clarence Bemis, A daugheter in-law, Arlene Bannister, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
His wife Jennie M. Carr Bemis (F.A.G.#44020986) died on March 13, 1972.
