Darrell L. Howard, 80, of Fenton, IL, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, IA. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Fenton Cemetery, Fenton, IL. Memorials may be made to the Morrison Sportsmens Club.
Darrell was born May 4, 1933 in Erie, IL, the son of William and Hazel Howard. He entered the Army in 1953 and served in the Korean Conflict. Darrell married Betty Ann Emo on February 5, 1954 in Camanche, IA. He was a truck driver throughout his working years. Darrell was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion. He loved horses and enjoyed trail riding with his wife Betty. Some of his other interests included fishing, traveling and watching Westerns.
Darrell is survived by 5 grandchildren, Cheyanne Hambelton (Kyle Carey), Erie, Jeremy (Jessica) Johnson, Erie, Dylon Hambelton, Erie, Jennifer (Mike) Krick, Clinton, Justin Howard, Kentucky; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Sally) Howard, Erie; and sister, Mary Alice Curry, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; 3 children, Christine Johnson, Jaynie Howard, Rusty Howard; one grandson; 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
