Funeral services for Mrs. Calvin P. Wadley, who passed away Saturday, January 19, were held yesterday afternoon from her late home on center Cross street. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Tope officiating.
Being more than 98 years or age, Mrs. Wadley was the oldest resident of Sycamore, and in spite of her great age, retained both mental and physical faculties until a few weeks before her death.
Mary Vincent was born August 11, 1830, in Canada. At the age of 16 she went with her parents to Michigan. She was married to Calvin P. Wadley on September 29, 1852.
Mr. and Mrs. Wadley moved to Illinois in 1869, and for many years occupied what is still known as the Wadley farm, in Virgil township. There they successfully engaged in farming until retiring to take up residence in Sycamore. Calvin Wadley preceded her in death January 27, 1920.
Six children were born to them, of whom only Mrs. Hanna Ames, of Oelwein, la. and Mrs. Emma Crystal, of Lily Lake, survive. There are also twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
