Son of George Washington Roberts and Frances Jane Guy. Grandparents, Barzilla Monroe Roberts and Elceba Wall; William Jefferson Guy and Sarah Ellen Magee. He was the fifth of eight children. Married Clara Graham Polk. They resided in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He had a music store there in Vickburg and the Roberts Cane Syrup Company. He was also a school teacher.
