In 1898 the family moved from Chicago to Necedah. It was hoped that life on a farm would benefit Peter's health. It was not to be. When Elsa was born he asked to have her baptism take place at his bedside. He died on 6 July 1900 several months after her birth. The widow returned to Illinois with her five children: Frances/1885, Katherina (Kate)/1886, Marie (Mae)/1888, Hedwig (Hattie)/1893, Wilhelm (Willie)/1898, Elsa (Elsie)/1900 and for a time lived with her parents on the farm in Richton Park. Elsa married first Elmer G. Martwick on 19 May 1921. This marriage was short lived due to serious problems with Elmer's mother. On 15 January 1924 she married Sam Lubovich. Their son Ramon was born on 24 March 1925. Elsa died from complications of an appendectomy on her 28th birthday, 28 April 1928. She was buried next to her mother and brother Willie who had died tragically in 1910.
