Ray Edward Green, Sr, 82, of Danville died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at his home after a brief illness. Born February 3, 1928 in Highland, Ky, he was the son of John and Lily Smith Green. Ray was the former owner of Green's Ashland Service Station, Yellow Cab Co, the Danville Coffee Cup Restaurant and Danville Tire Co. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. 1st Class, loved to farm and spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Ray is survived by his children, Danny (Sue Rogers) Green, Jana (Greg) Tsuchida, Ray Edward Green, Jr, Rebecca (Scott) Hardigree, Tammy Green (Aaron) McNew, Sharon Magnatta, Leo Lanham, Sharon Coffman and Joe Powell; his grandchildren, Philip (Jill) Green, Duane (Terri) Green, Danielle (J.B.) Hinkle, Kristin Mattingly, Stephen (Helen) Green, Brian (Jill) Green, Jonathan Weigle, Jacob (Megan) Weigle, Whitney (Andrew) Mercke, Chloe Elise Hardigree, Savannah Renee Hammons, Adalynn Ray McNew and Destiny Schnell McNew; great-grandchildren, Collin Green, Brady Green, Branson Weigle, Macy Weigle, Kalyn Payton, Kelsea Hinkle, Keagan Hinkle, Emma Mattingly and Faith Mattingly; his longtime companion, Edna Laswell Burton and her children, Sandra Laswell and Frankie (Kristi) Laswell and grandchildren, Jeffrey King, Jennifer Schaefer and Madison Laswell; one brother, Sam Green,; his former wife, Odean Kipp. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Rodney Green and Larry Green and one daughter, Reba Green; brothers, Russell, Lonzo, Van, Gus, Fred, James, Oscar, Norman and John Green, Jr, sisters, Mary Derry and Bessie Ernst and his former wife, Mary Jane Triplett Green. The funeral service will be 1 p.m, Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home and Family Center, Junction City. Rev. Ernest Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Duane Green, Philip Green, Jonathan Weigle, Jacob Weigle, Jeffrey King, Scott Hardigree, Greg Tsuchida and Aaron McNew. Visitation will be after 4 p.m, Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or the Military Honors program of the Caswell -Saufley American Legion Post # 19 P.O.Box 74, Stanford, Ky. 40484.
