Thomas Dixon was a son of Robert D. and Allie Tootle. He married Aletha Elizabeth Whittle April 12, 1823 in Washington Co, Georgia.

Thomas and his brother Shadrach were early settlers of Stewart County, Georgia. Thomas and his second wife, Martha Hardie Patterson moved to Pike County, Alabama, near Brundidge, in 1851.

Thomas died Oct. 25, 1872, in Pike County, Alabama. He is said to have served in the Mexican War.
