George W. Dixon was a son of Thomas J. Dixon and Martha Hardie. He married Frances Augusta Dawkins on March 17, 1870 in Pike County, Alabama. Following the death of his father, George and his brother Joseph, along with their respective families, moved to Coryell and Hamilton Counties, Texas.
George died at the young age of 30, and his widow later remarried. She died in 1888, in Caldwell County, Texas soon after the birth of her third child of the second marriage.
