Emma was a very gentle, kind person, a good mother that raised four daughters, Mable, Mary, Edith, Betty, and son, Duane Locke,Jr. Her first husband, Duane D. Locke, died from a railroad accident when her children were young. Her second marriage was out of necessity for her family as well as for love. Her children did not accept her second husband, Wilhelm Uhlenbrock, as their father although it was a daughter (my Mom) that introduced them! He worshiped Emma and treated her very good and provided for her. She was a devout Christian and always kept the Faith through the hardest of times never complaining. She was my grandmother and a wonderful person and influence on me. She had a stroke and for eight years was partially paralyzed in bed at a nursing home and my Mom would visit her faithfully every Sunday and the times I visited she never complained once but rather praised the Lord. She died at Drake Memorial Hospital. God bless you Grandma. Her son preceded her in death and she is buried next to him.
Her Parents:
Father: James Gray
Mother: Minerva (Williams) Gray
