Floyd Jewel Crawford was born 14th of 17 children, father, Henry Crawford (1818-1920) and Mary NellieAnn (McAlister/Thomas) both were ex-slaves, most of his sibling were not all Nellie's. Floyd married Laura Martin (1878-1939) in 1900 to this union 2 daughters were born. Then to Rosie Elizabeth (Jaego/Holmes) Sanders (1883-1940) in 1908. To this union, 8 children were born (2 perished early in birth and Samuel at 2 years old). He also was surrogate father to Rosie son, J.D. Sanders (1902-1927).
Floyd served in the Indian Wars, WWI and WWII.
After developing complications of being hit by a automobile, this ensued his demise.
A number of his relatives are interred here in Blackshear Historical Cemetery.
