Obituary:
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Friday, August 6, 2004, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Provo, UT, on February 14, 1922, to Myrtle and Wesley Robey. She married Ellis A. Nielsen on August 19, 1940 (deceased). Though Merle had physical trials and tribulations throughout her life, she never let that get her spirits down. She was the most loving and grateful person. We will miss those great big hugs and your contagious laughter. We love you, Mom/Grandma.
Survivors include two daughters: Gwen (Nad) Roundy, and Peggy (David) Elsmore. Grandchildren include Eddie (Susan) Roundy, Shelley (Todd) Powell, Trent (Talie) Roundy, David T. Elsmore, Brett (Leslie) Elsmore, Stephanie Elsmore, Robyn (Steve) Anderson. Also survived by a brother, Ned (Lila) Robey; sister, Faun Robey Sorenson; 18 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, and her faithful, loving dog Lady. Preceding her in death are her husband, Ellis A. Nielsen; and son, Dan R. Nielsen; sisters, Evva Healey and Lois Langsdorf.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Cascade Chapel at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. Friends may call 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo.
