Daughter of Vance L. Cudworth & Ina Midgett. Wife of Howard Gaston Saunders.
Lois Cudworth Saunders, 84, formerly of Manteo, died May 14, 2004, in Elizabeth City, N.C. Mrs. Saunders was born in Engelhard and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Lois was known as "Bobi" By all of her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. Mrs. Saunders was owner of The Drafty Tavern for many years.
She was the daughter of the late Vance and Ina Midgett Cudworth and was the widow of Gaston Saunders.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra S. Webb of Tarboro, N.C.; two sisters, Wilma Scarborough and Jean Daniels, both of Wanchese; a brother, Louis Cudworth of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Midgett and Ina Burns Davis.
A celebration of life will be held Monday at 3 p . m . in Twiford's Colony Chapel. Burial will be in Cudworth Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at 406 Woodard Road, Kitty Hawk.
