Leona M. (Pierce) Slaughter, of Climax,Passed away Friday evening, January 23, 2015 at the Bronson At Home Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. Leona was born September 15, 1939 in Climax, MI the daughter of Millard and Pauline Pierce. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 465 in Climax. On June 20, 1980 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Phillip Slaughter, who preceded her in death on September 19, 2011.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Rick) Stuck, Dawn (Gary) Keller, Daniel (Heidi) Reschner, Denise (Ken) Andersen; step-children, Ken (Melinda) Slaughter, Tim (Lori) Slaughter; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, January 29, at the American Legion Post 465, 6101 South 44th Street. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 465 or Bronson At Home Hospice in Battle Creek.
