Elmer was an active member of the Moore Free Will Baptist Church where he had seerved over the years as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and Assistant Choir Director. He was a farmer, cattleman and enjoyed the outdoors.
On March 31, 1934, he married Lorene (McKinney) Bailey who survives him of the home. He is also survived by six children, Vivian M. (Bailey) Webb of Hot Springs, Ark., Janetta M. (Bailey) Carter of Knoxville, Tenn., Loretta P. (Bailey) Harris of Berryville, Jim L. Bailey of Granbury, Texas, Rich L. Bailey of Lee's Summit, MO. and Reen J. (Bailey) Egger of San Jose, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Cora (Bailey) Morgan of Wendover, Ky.; several nieces and nephews, many relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Arthur, Otis, Jim, Shomer and Ishmael; three sisters, Nora, Dora and Ora; and one daughter, Joanne.
A memorial worship service was held May 24 at the Moore Free Will Baptist Church with his grandsons, Rev. Doug Harris and Dr. John Harris officiating. Interment was in the Moore Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
