Teresa Carraher Keuter left this world in the early hours of January 15, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Isidore Catholic Church with interment at St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Paula ODonnell and Mary Carraher Keuter, her sister Margaret Briggs, brother Robert Carraher (Pat), granddaughters Sheila Cosgrove Baylis (Chris), Sarah Wilson Polli (John), Maggie Carraher, and Katie ODonnell, along with her four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Teresa was one of eleven children born to Edna and Thomas Carraher. She was born in Spalding, Nebraska, on August 25, 1926. After graduation from the Spalding Academy in 1943 she went to Washington D. C. to live with her sister Mary and work at the National Red Cross. She returned to Nebraska in 1944 and worked in Omaha in various positions until her marriage to Donald Keuter on June 3, 1947, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Spalding.

Teresa and Don remained in Omaha until 1952 when they moved to Columbus. They became members of St. Anthony Parish and then St. Bonaventure. In 1960 they moved to St. Isidore Parish and were charter members of that parish. Teresa worked for 10 years at Dale Electronics and then was employed at Cornhusker Public Power District for 22 years until her retirement in 1992.

Teresa was an active member of the Legion of Mary for over 40 years. As part of her work she became Saturday Captain of Perpetual Adoration and also worked with school children to secure donations resulting in an outdoor shrine to our Lady of Fatima at St. Bonaventure. In conjunction with the Knights of Columbus Teresa organized an annual Rosary March that began in 1977 and continued until 1996. In 1994 Teresa was honored as the Community Person of the Year by the Knights of Columbus for her outstanding service to the community.

In 1997 Teresa became the Director of Emergency Pregnancy Service, an answering service to assist those with problem pregnancies. In 1983 they opened an office and changed the name to Birthright of Columbus. Teresa served as Director there for many years.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald in 1998, an infant son Joseph, sisters Mary Todd, Ernestine Bumgardner, Betty Allen, and brothers Albert, Michael, Paul, Jim, and Dennis Carraher.

Her daughters will most remember her for her laugh, her singing voice, her strong religious faith, her love of children and animals, and the joy she experienced while taking time to enjoy nature.
