Henry Glass, 68 Final Rites Were In Bedford
Funeral services for Henry Franklin Glass, 68, of Bedford, held March 26 in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home, were conducted by Rev. Duane Hunt. Mr. Glass died March 22, 1982 at his home having been seriously ill since last October. Bedford American Legion Post 164 extended military honors with interment at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.
Henry Franklin Glass, son of James and Nora Glass, was born in Lee County, Virginia July 8, 1913.
He lived in Virginia until age nine and grew to maturity in Taylor County, Iowa where he attended the public schools and Baptist Church.
On August 31, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty L. [ois] Woodward at the First Baptist Church in Bedford and they lived in the Bedford vicinity.
To this union four children were born: John, Nancy, Peggy and Carol.
He was engaged in farming all of his married life near Bedford.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford and a Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Glass was preceded in death by his father, his mother and one grandson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty; his children: John Glass and wife, Norma, of Bedford; Nancy and husband, Jim Poore, of Hanover, Il.; Peggy Adams of Essex, Ia.; and Carol and husband, Ed Spencer, of Lenox; three brothers: Palmer, Don and Ray Glass, all of Moses Lake, Wa.; three sisters: Mrs. Howard (Hazel) Miers of New Market; Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Miers of Gravity; and Mrs. Harold (Pauline) McCune of Bedford; 13 grandchildren; and cousin, Mrs. Max (Thelma) Yeary of Rose Hill, Va. who was reared in the Glass home.
He was a kind and considerate husband and father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
