Norbert Gregor Propson, age 85, of Chilton passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, after a short illness.
He was born in Kloten on January 27, 1927 to Appolonia (Joas) and Joseph R. Propson. He was a 1944 graduate of Chilton High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 stationed in Germany. He also served as Register of Deeds for Calumet County for many years. Norb was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Chilton for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

On October 26, 1957 he married Rosemary Halbach at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood. Together they raised seven beautiful children. In his younger years, Norb was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed listening to Polka music and following the Packers and Brewers. Norb enjoyed reading and watching his favorite TV shows, but most of all he enjoyed visits with his family. He was a life-long member of Good Shepherd Parish where he served on the parish council and as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 66-year member of the Knights of Columbus.

Norb is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rose, and their seven children; Ellen (Jack) Kane, Menifee, CA; Mary (Tom) Spaeth, Chilton; Keith (Tricia) Propson, Kaukauna; Lori (Joe) Krause, Chilton; Lisa (Matt) Schaefer, Madison; Lynn (Ken) Van Oss, Chilton; and Debra (Eric) Iverson, Watertown. He is further survived by 14 Grandchildren. He had one great-granddaughter Claire Spaeth. His sister Stella Gerner and brother Gordon (June) Propson also survive him along with his brothers and sisters in-law; Harold Heiner, Joyce Halbach, Audrey Mader, Al Halbach, Jeanette Ott, Eugene Halbach, Mary Ann Olson, Sister Margaret Mary Halbach, and Ray (Marilyn) Halbach. Norb is futher survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Raymond and Mayme Halbach, and two grandsons, Nicholas Iverson and Lucas Van Oss; his siblings Clarence Propson, Esther Heiner, and Marie Perl; his brothers and sisters in-law, Margaret Propson, Elmer Perl, Syl Gerner, Bill Halbach, Don and Ethel Halbach, Ceil and Adrian Mader, Mert Halbach, Leo Ott, Joan Halbach, Neil Olson, Jerry Halbach, and James Halbach.

Funeral services with Military rites will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish in Chilton with Father Bob Kollath and Deacon Dennis Bennin presiding. Interment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton on Tuesday, April 3, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Until 11:00 a.m.
