Clarence J. “CJ” Propson, 74, of W4565 County Highway E., Chilton, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997 at home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1922 in Kloten, son of the late Joseph R. and Appolonia (Joas) Propson.
Clarence married Margaret Schaefer on Nov. 19, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chilton. She preceded him in death on Dec. 1 2, 1 981 . He farmed in the Town of Stockbridge with his wife, where they raised their six children. He was also a hay and grain dealer for over 45 years.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge and the Wisconsin and National Hay Associations. Clarence was an avid Sturgeon fisherman, a member of the Stockbridge Harbor Fishing Club and the Stockbridge Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law,
Jane and Tom Woelfel, Stockbridge;
Judy and Tom Schwobe,
Karen and Tom Tittman and
Amy and John Martin, all of Chilton; two sons and a daughter-in-law,
Ron Propson, Stockbridge;
Dick and Julie Propson, Fond du Lac;
ten grandchildren, Ann, Joe and Jack Propson, Katie Woelfel, Patrick and Jamie Schwobe, Adam and Sarah Tittman, Abigail and Margaret Martin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norbert and Rose Propson, Chilton; Gordon and June Propson, New Holstein; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie and Elmer Perl, Kiel; Stella Gerner, Chilton and Harold Heiner, New Holstein. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Esther and a brother-in-law, Sylvester Gerner.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 1997 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, with the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton, from 4 to 9 p.m., on Thursday and on Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m., when family prayers will be held. A parish vigil will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established, in CJ's name, for the Calumet Medical Center Home Care and Hospice Services.
