Alexander McCormick (1840 - 1917)

Alexander McCormick was born in Armon County, Antrim, Ireland in 1840 and died at his home six miles southwest of McCracken, December 5, 1917. He immigrated from Ireland to Scotland in 1858. There his occupation was a miner. He met and married Miss Jane McGaughey and to this union fourteen children were born; John Charles, Daniel, Charles, Mary, Annie, Bridget, Agnes, Jane Kate, Alexander, Patrick, James and Frank. Mr. McCormick came to America in 1881 to Fairmount, Ness County, Kansas and settled on a homestead in section 34, with one more section added in later years. He leaves to mourn, his wife, and ten children, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church with burial in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were James Higgins, Sr., Robert Start, Henry Klee, Charles Start, Thomas Meehan and Albert Start.
