Abel Chavez, 83, passed away April 2, 1984, in a Salt Lake Hospital. Born June 14, 1900 at Vallecitos, New Mexico. Married Esther Gallegos[sic], January 21, 1924 at Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She passed away February 8, 1950. Married Rose Casias, 1956, she passed away January 1980. Survivors: two sons, Joseph Chavez, Salt Lake City; Lee Chavez, Colorado Springs, Colorado; four daughters, Susie Otero, Fruita, Colorado; Irene Humphreys, Ogden; Lisa Woodahl, Garden Grove, California; Loretta Grace Butano, Palm Beach, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Chavez, New Mexico; three sisters, (?) Rivera, Montrose, Colorado; Cimodosella Martinez, Grand Junction, Colorado; Josephita Manzanarez, Montrose, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 6, 1984, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1072 West 400 South, where Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 until time of Rosary. Interment: Sunset Gardens of the Valley. Funeral Directors: Memorial Estates Mortuary.
