George was murdered in Houston, TX by Bruce Fields, a fellow railroad employee, while working for the Missouri Kansas and Texas Railroad. Fields shot him several times as he was leaving his engine. He had been employed there for about five years. He started as a machinist and was an engineer at the time of his death.

George grew up in the Chapel Hill community. He married Mrs. Beulah Alice (Belle) Boone Devlin November 22, 1904, in Houston, TX. There were no known children by this marriage.

UPDATE: Recently. a newspaper article found in the Houston Post newspaper dated August 2, 1907, stated that George was buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, TX. Inquiries have not yet produced the actual location in Hollywood Cemetery.
