Louisa Laxton was born about 1813 (per majority of census records) and was the daughter of Thomas Laxton and Mary “Polly” Carlton. Thomas Laxton was the son of Levi Laxton and Nancy Tilley. Mary Carlton was the daughter of Lewis Carlton and Elizabeth Eve, all of Wilkes County, North Carolina. Most, or maybe all, of these families came to Wilkes County, NC from Virginia.
Louisa married Joseph Barlow on April 24, 1828 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
Louisa and Joseph were living in Wilkes County, NC at the time of the 1830 and 1840 Census. Per Census records of 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880, Louisa and Joseph were living in Kings Creek Township, Caldwell County, NC. Caldwell County, NC was founded in 1841 from parts of Wilkes and Burke counties, thus it’s possible that Louisa and Joseph always lived in the same community.

Louisa and Joseph were members of the Kings Creek Baptist Church in Caldwell County, NC. Per church records, Joseph was ordained as a Deacon of Kings Creek Baptist Church in April 1866.
The last Census record found for Louisa and Joseph was the 1880 Census. They were living in Kings Creek, Caldwell County, NC. The occupation of Louisa, age 67, was “Keeping House,” and the occupation of Joseph, age 73, was “Farmer.”
Per consensus of many Barlow descendants, Louisa died about 1890 in Caldwell County, NC.
