George G. Smith, Sr., 57, of West Lafayette, died at 2:55 AM Saturday, April 25, 1970, in St. Elizabeth Hosital, where he had been a patient for six weeks and in ill-health since January. Born and reared at Riverside, he lived in Attica before coming to Lafayette in 1943. His marriage in 1945 in Lafayette, was to Alice Effie Arndt, and she survives.

Mr. Smith was an installer for Korschot Heating and Air Conditioning Inc., for the past 24 years. Prior to that he was employed at Alcoa and at the Harrison Steel Co. in Attica.

Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Daniel Proffitt; two sons, Frederick and John Edward Smith, all of Rt. 2 West Lafayette; two daughters and two sons from a previous marriage, Mrs. Robert McGill of Rt. 1 West Lafayette, Mrs. Gordon Stout of Lafayette, George G. Smith, Jr. of Battle Ground, and Jake Smith of Covina, CA.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Florence Kirts of Attica; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Kerr of Lafayette, Mrs. Charles Dobbles of Desoto, IN, and Mrs. Earl Green of Farmland; four brothers, Donald Smith of Seattle, WA, Clifford Smith of Lafayette, Verna Smith of Fort Wayne, and Everett Smith of Independence; four step-sisters, Mrs. Pearl Kingen, Mrs. Grace Batta, Mrs. Louella Rusk, and Mrs. Marie Crow, all of Lafayette; and three step-brothers, Russell Kirts, William Kirts, both of Lafayette, and Lloyd Kirts of Grovertown, IN.
