Dr. George Raymond Allen of Champlain died Sunday night at the Physicians Hospital after a long illness.
Dr. Allen was born in Peru, son of Seth S. and Della (Parsons) Allens.
He attended Plattsburgh schools and Plattsburgh Normal School. He graduated from Cornell University and from the University of Vermont Medical College in 1921 and then opened his doctor's office in Champlain. He served the people of the North Country from 1921 until his retirement in 1953 because of failing health.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Mitchell; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald C. Peets of Okemos, Mich.; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Peter G. Ryan of Danbury, Conn.
Friends may call at the Allen residence in Champlain tonight and Tuesday. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Champlain First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Plattsburgh.
