Melvin P. "Wop" Watson, 90, of Belpre passed away Nov. 21, 2007, at the Arcadia Nursing Home, Coolville, Ohio.
He was born in Elizabeth, W.Va., on Nov, 2, 1917, a son of the late Carlos Watson and Glenna Mullinex Watson. He was retired from Belpre City Schools after 30 years of service where he was a bus driver and custodian. He was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church, a member of the Farm Bureau, he enjoyed farming, horses, square dancing, country music and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by one son. Samuel Watson and wife Sharon of Belpre; three daughters, Betty Starlin and husband Harley of Little Hocking, Ohio; Mary Putnam of Belpre and Toni Shutts of Belpre; three sisters, Mariie Young, Gladys Watson and Imogene Watson, all of Parkersburg; 10 Grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Cale Watson; his second wife, Betty Windland Watson; two sons, Arylan and Cecil Watson; one grand daughter, Brenda Starlin; three brothers, Doc Watson, Rex Watson and Jeff Watson; and three sisters, Maggie Goodwin, Alma Fought, and Beatrice Fought.
Funeral Services will 10 am at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
